For Sophie

When one of my best friends, Tim, told me about her baby shower, I immediately said yes to her invitation. I am her daughter’s intended godmother and Tim is one of my oldest and closest friend so, naturally, I answered in the affirmative. I could not imagine not being invited, to tell the truth.

But come the time of the baby shower, I had to attend to something very important. A potential client called me up. We talked about a temporary agreement that would give me a tidy sum of money. So I had to beg off, promising Tim that I will just make it up to her. Since I was not able to attend the baby shower, I was not able to give my gift for little Sophie. I discarded the gift I was supposed to give and I am now looking at other baby shower gifts that I can give to both mother and daughter. I have not decided what it is yet but it would be something useful. I believe in giving practical gifts.
